Idol of mine, I wish to worship;
Idol of mine, in that I see my God that I worship.
But beyond that, I don’t see God anymore;
Only in that idol, I see my God, no more.
Idol worship helps to focus my mind to God;
Gives form to that formless whom I call God.
Gives me pleasure of bathing, feeding my lord;
But always separate I feel from my lord.
Talk I will to my idol, my very lord;
Answer I may not get from this stone, silent is the lord.
Idol is ideal, an idea not to be discarded;
But binding from freedom it should not be, bondage should be discarded.
No path is wrong, karma, gyaan, bhakti, all are correct;
Idol worship too is correct, but limiting yourself as yourself is incorrect.
